The mother of Samus Aran and wife of Rodney Aran, who died during the Space Pirate raid of planet K-2L.

In one of the ending images of Metroid Fusion she is shown protecting a young Samus while Ridley approaches charging his plasma breath, while in the Metroid manga she is able to just in time distract Ridley who was about to kill a young Samus, allowing Samus to escape while instead herself getting killed by his plasma breath.
