Modern Tribal Illustration has its roots in tattoo and tiki-bar culture, which was inspired, in turn, by Polynesian designs of ancient origins.

Tribal tattoos are usually black in color and are composed of solid geometric designs. Can also be done in a "stonework effect" or in color but black is the most common.
