Martial arts media franchise spanning four films, an animated series, a part sequel movie (The Next Karate Kid), a streaming series continuing from the first three movies (Cobra Kai), and a "remake" set in China.
The first three films concern Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), who learns karate from an unlikely sensei, his apartment complex's handman Mr. Miyagi (Noriyuki "Pat" Morita) after being bullied by the Cobra Kai gang whose leader is an ex-boyfriend of Daniel's love interest Ali Mills.
