oozora hibari

The main character of Stop!! Hibari-kun!. She is a transgender girl who is disdained by her father for her feminine presentation. She dresses as a woman full time, including at school, longs for larger breasts, and despises being seen as a man. She is extremely strong and can hold her own in practically any fight.

She falls in love with Sakamoto Kousaku, who rejects her upon finding out her biological sex. Nonetheless, she continues to tease him.

According to the author in a French interview, he chose to portray a trans character due to transgender people being much less known in Japan in the 80s, which gave him a lot of freedom in how he could portray the character.
