marie (splatoon)
Splatoon character. Named Hotaru in the Japanese version. She is an inkling.
She is part of an idol group known as Squid Sisters (Sea O' Colors in the Japanese release) with the other member being her cousin Callie. She and Callie are also both news program hostesses that announce in-game news.
She wears a green and black-themed outfit matching Callie's and wears a food cup on her head. Other features of this default costume & appearance include bow-shaped hair and a detached white collar. In general she is usually depicted with a mole under her eye, thick eyebrows and star-shaped pupils.
Her canonical weapon class of choice are Chargers.
Often drawn with a more melancholic expression compared to her cousin.
Her Japanese name comes from the Japanese word for the firefly squid (蛍烏賊/ホタルイカ Hotaru-ika) and their band's name in Japanese is a portmanteau of "shiokara" (a Japanese food made out of various marine animals, commonly squid) and "colors". She and Callie's names in English are a play on the word calamari.
