A fictional manned giant robot from the Gundam mechaverse. It first appeared in the Gundam 08th MS Team OVA series form 1996.

RGM-79 [G] GM Ground Type

An early version of the Earth Federation GM mobile suit intended to fight in ground combat. It was somewhat clunky and underperforming compared to the standard GM, and was phased out as the production model rolled out, but it had tougher armor made of Luna Titanium around its vitals and could use a powerful beam rifle.

Its combat performance was sturdy enough to warrant its continued use in a few units, in spite of a shortage of spare parts.
