great auk (kemono friends)

A Kemono Friends character. She is one of many "Friends" in Japari Park. She first appeared in the second stage play of Kemono Friends.

The Great Auk (Pinguinus impennis) is the "original" penguin, known to the west well before the Spheniscidae Penguins (like the Emperor Penguin) and in many languages, Auks are still called "Penguins". Indeed, Spheniscidae Penguins are now called "Penguins" because of their uncanny resemblance to the Great Auk. It became extinct through a combination of the Little Ice Age and human exploitation. Ironically, the last specimens were killed in 1844, the same year of the discovery of the Emperor Penguin.

Being a non-Spheniscidae bird, she actually has head wings. Being extinct, she has the characteristic lack of glint in her eyes.
