gale (baldur's gate)
One of the eight Origin characters in Baldur's Gate 3 who can either be the player character or potential party member. A male human wizard prodigy from Waterdeep, and romantically devoted to the goddess Mystra as her chosen. However, after letting his ambition get ahead of his better judgment, Gale suffered a deeply critical affliction and was spurned by Mystra, driving him to win back her affections at any cost. As a romantic at heart, Gale conducts himself as gentlemanly as possible and is considered to be one of the "good" aligned origins.
The affliction Gale suffers specifically is a Netherese Destruction Orb that has been implanted in his body, a result of him discovering a fragment of the Weave. In a bid to win back Mystra's attention, Gale took in the Weave with the belief that he could personally return it to her. His attempt failed, leaving him with this curse. If Gale doesn't keep this orb stable, it will explode with enough force to level a nation.
