A Japanese anime and entertainment magazine. It uses a platypus as its mascot character.
Since its first issue in 1980, it has gone through cancellation, revival and a change of name and publishing company. However, throughout all this, Hamamatsu Katsuki has remained the chief editor. He is also known by the pen name " 'K' of Initial Biscuit", and is famous for creating the word Shoutarou complex, the origin of the Japanese slang word "shotakon".
This magazine is known for its bunch of "From Readers" pages packed with weird parodies, a few of which still survive today as memes.
The most famous of these running gags is the following: Amiba from Hokuto no Ken appears in fanmade anime/manga dictionaries that are completely unrelated to him, and schemes to steal the glory of the top entry in the gojuuon kana ordering list. However, he fails every time.
In addition, hardcore readers have their own jargon they use frequently. The most popular of these is "Roadists", the name they call themselves, and "gegebo", which means "to be astonished by incredibly, wretchedly, pathetic things."
