escudo sword (rayearth)

The swords that the three Magic Knights use in Magic Knight Rayearth. It is made from the legendary ore Escudo, and can only be forged by Presea. The Escudo swords will evolve and become stronger, but only if their users’ wills likewise become stronger after enduring various tribulations. Each sword can only ever be used by its intended owner, with negative consequences if anyone else, even a fellow Magic Knight, tries to wield it.

The type of sword each girl wields is different:

• Shidou Hikaru’s sword is a traditional broadsword with an intricate red hilt. It turns into flames if someone else touches it.
• Ryuuzaki Umi’s sword is a rapier with a blue hilt resembling dragon wings. It dissolves into water if someone else touches it.
• Hououji Fuu’s sword is a large claymore with a circular green hilt. It becomes unusually heavy if someone else touches it.
