Stephen Strange was a talented but arrogant surgeon from New York whose life changed after a car accident rendered his hand unusable. Desperate for a cure, he reached the Tibetan monastery of Kamar-Taj, where a sorcerer known only as the Ancient One instructed him in the mystic arts.
Strange eventually inherited the Ancient One's title as Sorcerer Supreme, and since then has been defending Earth from mystical and extradimensional threats such as Shuma Gorath.
