Parodies based on a fetish artwork of a reverse bimbofication sequence by sortimid, in which a gyaru-esque bimbo character picks up a book and becomes a plain-looking student. The image went viral after being reposted to Twitter, largely due to the reposter and viewers misreading it as social commentary and not realizing that it was simply niche fetish art.

The meme saw a resurgence in popularity several years later, as artists began to depict the before and after versions of the girl in the sequence as a yuri couple. The original artist themself also supported the trend as part of LGBT pride month.
