colonial (all tomorrows)

One of the posthuman species in All Tomorrows. They were originally a human colony that had the most success fighting the Qu, being able to repel the Qu invasions twice before being defeated.

As punishment for their defiance, the Qu turned them into little more than sheets of skin and flesh that acted as filter feeders. To further their punishment, the Qu let them retain eyes and sentience so that they could fully experience their own suffering.
