天気雨 太陽雨 太阳雨 日照り雨 照り雨 日照雨 天泣 狐の嫁入り

A meteorological phenomenon in which rain falls while the sun is shining. It can sometimes occur in a partially cloudy sky or even in a clear sky. It is usually the result of winds blowing the airborne raindrops into an area where there are no clouds.

One of the possible explanations for one of its Japanese names, 狐の嫁入り (Kitsune no yomeiri), which literally means "fox's wedding," comes from the old belief that such rains are inexplicable and unnatural. In Japan, foxes (or kitsune) were believed to shapeshift, trick people, or cause them to hallucinate. It was believed that the rain fell to prevent people from seeing a fox wedding procession that took place during the day.
