Scott Pilgrim is a series of graphic stories by Bryan Lee O'Malley.
The series is about Scott Pilgrim, a slacker and part-time young musician (and occasional "hip street fighter") who lives in Toronto and plays bass guitar in the band Sex Bob-Omb.
The comic has several classic video game references in its plot. The author has cited that the game Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari (known outside Japan as River City Ransom) had a huge influence on it.
A film adaptation of the series titled Scott Pilgrim vs the World and starring actor Michael Cera in the title role was released in August 2010. A video game of the same name developed by Ubisoft for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade was released the same month. An anime adaptation by Science SARU would release over a decade later in 2023 on Netflix. The animation, titled Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, is notable for featuring the original movie cast reprising their roles.
