    三笠(アズールレーン) 三笠 鲐

Azur Lane's personification of the Japanese battleship Mikasa. Voiced by Oohara Sayaka.

    History

In real life, she is famous for her role as the flagship of the Japanese fleet in the Battle of Tsushima in 1905, where a battle fleet led by Admiral Heihachiro Tougou decisively routed a Russian battle fleet en route to Vladivostok.
Worth noting is the "Z" signal flag on her jacket, a reference to ADM Tougou's famous message to the fleet in the battle using the flag:

The Empire's fate depends on the result of this battle, let every man do his utmost duty.

After the war ended, she was sunk by an accidental magazine explosion, then raised, repaired, and modernized before being forced out of service in 1923 to comply with the Washington Naval Treaty. The same treaty also allowed her to be preserved as a museum in Yokosuka under the condition that her hull below the waterline be sealed in concrete.

    Appearance

    See Danbooru post #2933426.

She is depicted wearing a black military uniform (which, when observing her sleeve insignia, corresponds to "Marshal Admiral" in the IJN, Tougou's final rank) and wearing a jacket over it with the Z flag used as a sleeve armband, surrounded by prayer beads.
