The second ship of the Izumo-class "helicopter carrier destroyers" (DDH-184) that was launched on 27 August 2015 and later "converted" into an aircraft carrier. Also the first ship to bear the Kaga name since the Tosa-class battleship turned aircraft carrier from World War II.
