The Indian elephant (Elephas maximus indicus) is one of three extant recognized subspecies of the Asian elephant and native to mainland Asia.
In general, Asian elephants are smaller than African elephants and have smaller ears, but relatively broader skulls and larger trunks than African elephants.
Notably, one of these elephants were mentioned in Pokedex entries for Raichu and Gastly, despite the near-total absence of real life animals in Pokemon.
