Honing steel (sometimes referred as sharpening steel) is a rod of steel, ceramic or diamond-coated steel used to restore keenness to dulled blade edges. It is flat, oval, or round-shaped in cross-section. There are also non-abrasive ones with rods of smooth ceramic or ribbed steel. Some have a ring on its screwdriver-like grip.
