A wedding custom wherein two people's hands are tied together with a ribbon or cord to symbolize the binding of two lives. It derives from an ancient Celtic ritual and is most often included in Wiccan or Pagan ceremonies, but has also become more mainstream and pops up in both religious and secular vows and readings.
